Natalie Joy Jewelry Studio
This project represents the transformative power of adaptive reuse. What began as a standard, utilitarian garage was reimagined into a bespoke jewelry studio for a Portland-based artist. The goal was to create a workspace that fostered creativity, organization, and focus.
Natural light is essential for detailed jewelry work. We introduced new openings and skylights to flood the space with diffused northern light, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day. The interior finish includes clean lines and neutral tones to allow the artist's work to take center stage, while custom storage solutions maximize the efficiency of the limited square footage.
By insulating the structure and upgrading systems, we turned a drafty storage space into a comfortable, year-round studio that eliminates the commute and integrates work-life balance directly into the residential property.
